Selfishness

Selfishness is of the Devil and is the opposite of love. Instead of giving to others, you giving to yourself. You think of nobody but you. Selfishness is all about me. “What about me.” “Who cares about you? It’s all about me.” Selfish people have a mindset where you can’t see anybody but you. They have a hard time giving and if they give something, it is because they want something in return; that is not love. Love is giving of yourself. That took a long time for me to understand, because I was a selfish person. I held things against people who didn’t do anything to me, because I wanted to hurt people who hurt me. But, the only thing I was doing was holding myself in bondage, and not choosing to be set myself free. That’s how the Devil deceives people into not receiving joy, peace and happiness, because he doesn’t want them to see the truth. When I came to the understanding that God loves me and he only wants the best for me, I had to make up my mind and decide if I wanted to be in bondage or to be set free. I chose to be set free! I feel so much better, because I don’t walk around in bondage and feeling sad about something that happened years ago. To make it even more crystal clear, you can’t change time. The only thing you can do is move forward and forgive yourself and others.

Love

When I heard the word “love” I hated it with a passion. I didn’t like hearing this word at all, and I couldn’t stand it all. The reason why I didn’t like the word love is because I had a misunderstanding about what it was. What I saw through my perspective was the abuse my Mom went through. I told myself I will never love, because I didn’t want the love I saw. I told myself my first love would be the Lord. Now at that time I didn’t understand what I was speaking out my mouth, but now I do. I got a better understanding and the truth. The Devil plays a deceptive role in our lives. He doesn’t want us to receive the truth, and that is how he deceived Eve.

Exposing the truth of Love and what it was meant for: Love is not selfishness. Love brings joy, peace and happiness to the most inner parts of your life where you are hurt and broken.

Here are some scriptures that have helped me understand true love.

He who does not love does not know God, for God is love (1 John 4:8).

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:4-7).

For
God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another (John 13:34).

Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others (Philippians 2:4).
